WHAT TREATMENT IS RIGHT FOR ME?

Q I’m really sensitive to pain and don’t like a painful massage. Can you still treat me and give me relief?

A At your appointment we will describe the treatments to be provided to ensure that you are comfortable with them.  If you are uncomfortable, we want you to let us know immediately, whether that discomfort involves the treatment, draping, any pain you may experience, a need for a tissue, water or loo stop. A small adjustment can make it perfect and we want you to have complete comfort, relief and confidence.

Q How long do sessions last?

A Most sessions are from 60-70 minutes long. Please allow a little longer on your first appointment. Sessions where many issues are to be dealt with or where counselling massage and energy work are part of the session will require 90 minute appointments. For single areas 30 minutes will be sufficient.

Q Do I need to remove my clothes?

A No.  Your comfort as our client is of the utmost importance, whether that is in the context of the clothing you wear, what you are comfortable removing or the treatment you receive. Large Warm towels are used in proper draping procedures to ensure that your privacy is completely respected at all times.  Your comfort and ability to relax is paramount to effective treatment.

Q What conditions are contraindicated for having a massage?

A Massage Therapy is a very safe modality and there are only a few conditions that require caution. Acute infection, fever, inflamed conditions require care and some areas perhaps require exclusion from treatment. Fractures and recent surgery have some cautions, Aromatherapy Oils are contraindicated in the first 12 weeks and some are excluded for the entire pregnancy. In most cases other techniques can be used and you should feel comfortable that you are in the best care. Please feel free to discuss your concerns with Valerie at the time of booking your appointment.

Q What information should I have with me?

A At your first appointment we take a thorough history to enable the most appropriate fusion of approaches. Please bring information relating to your health, operations, medications, symptoms and goals of treatment. A basic intake form can be downloaded from this website under Forms.

Q I find it hard to get onto a table and lie for too long. Is there an alternative?

A Our electric therapy table can be lowered to your comfort level. Using different sized and textured pillows, most conditions and positions can be accommodated. Side lying is a comfortable option. For those ladies expecting a baby, please ask about the Pregnancy pillow which allows you to lie on your tummy.

Q Are you a qualified practitioner?

A Yes. You can feel confident that as I am registered with ATMS and CAPA you are in good hands. Requirements of these professional associations are strictly monitored including Professional Indemnity Insurance, a current First Aid Certificate, Police Check and Clearance for working with Children and professional development education. Certificates of Membership are displayed in our therapy room. I have over 17 years experience in the natural therapy industry.

Q Do you Sell Gift Certificates?

A Yes. Gift Certificates may be purchased direct from the website using paypal or Certificates may be posted, emailed to you for printing or emailed direct to the recipient for your convenience. Alternatively contact me by SMS or email to arrange payment and collection.

Q What is your cancellation policy?

A Please give 24 hours notice if you are unable to attend your appointment. This allows this time for this appointment to be offered to other clients on a waiting list. A 50% normal fee will apply.

Q Should I still come for my appointment if I am unwell?

A If you have a cold or flu in the acute stage (24-48 hours), have a fever, chills, and not beginning to recover, please stay home and rest. Having a massage at this stage will spread the infection beyond the lymphatic system and could make you very unwell. Give us a call to discuss your circumstances and if needed a new appointment should be reserved for when you are recovering. Giving us as much notice as possible will be appreciated so the appointment may be offered to another client. Cancellation fees are not applicable in the event of illness.

Q What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

A My name is Valerie Marshall and Inspiring Wellness is my business, passion and hope for you. I have been working with people in the Sutherland Shire for over 17 years. I have qualifications in Massage Therapy, Counselling and Energy Work. The styles of treatment include: Remedial and Sports Massage Lymphatic Drainage Bowen Therapy Myofascial Release Cranio-Sacral Therapy Polarity Therapy Reiki Master Training Holistic Counselling, NLP, Positional Release and Dry Needling. I work as part of a team of Allied Health Professionals at Gymea and independently at Yowie Bay. I am also a member of ATMS and CAPA, am registered as a Workcover accredited massage therapist for your workplace injury treatment. Professional Indemnity Insurance and First Aid Certificate and Police check (to allow working with people aged 18 years and under) are current.

Q Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

A Professional Indemnity Insurance is mandatory in the Massage Therapy and Counselling industry as is belonging to a Professional Association. Health Fund rebates are available through therapists who are registered with a Professional Association. Continuing Professional Development hours assure clients of a commitment to staying up to date with current treatments and industry developments.

Q What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?

A Good questions to ask in the Massage Therapy and Counselling industries are: How long have you been in this industry? Are you registered with an Industry Association? Can I claim a rebate on my Massage Therapy Session? What experience do you have in treating the condition I am seeking treatment for? What hours are you available?

Q How many sessions will I need?

A Most clients will come for a one hour session with some follow up sessions. Where there has been significant and longstanding physical and emotional challenges, 90 minute sessions are more supportive.

Q How do you normally charge for your service?

A Sessions are usually by the hour or 90 minutes depending on the extent and complexity of the presenting condition and the outcome required. Clients make payments by cash cheque and direct deposit. A receipt is given for your records and to enable redemption of a rebate for Massage Therapy with your Health Insurer.

Q What makes your pricing competitive?

A Pricing is made affordable with overheads being kept low. I am a sole practitioner and deal directly with clients when they make enquiries, appointments and payments.

Q Can I claim a Rebate with my Health Insurer?

A I am registered with most Health Insurance Companies and a rebate may be claimed where the appropriate cover is held.

Q How did you decide to get into your line of work?

A I became interest in Complementary Health Care when one of my children was diagnosed with an incurable condition. I received some positive feedback after using Reflexology on him from a book I had borrowed from the Library. It was then I became interested in studying Natural Therapy.

Q How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

A Review what has worked for you previously and make a commitment to doing more of what is helpful. (e.g. Stretching, journaling, meditation, exercising) Make a list of what you want help with and explore what your ideal outcome is.
